Chinatown Stroll: Lanterns, Hills, and Dim Sum
We spent a beautiful afternoon wandering through one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in San Francisco ๐. There is something undeniable about the energy on Grant Avenueโthe way the red lanterns string across the sky ๐ฎ, framing the Transamerica Pyramid in the distance.
We started at the Dragon Gate ๐ and just let our feet carry us up the hill โฐ๏ธ. Itโs a sensory overload in the best way possible:
- The Architecture: From the green-tiled roof of the Sing Chong Building to the brick facade of Old St. Mary's Cathedral, the history is written on the walls ๐งฑโจ.
- The Markets: We loved peering into the local grocers ๐, checking out the fresh produce and dried goods on display right on the sidewalk ๐๐.
- The Food: You can't walk these hills without fueling up ๐ฅ๐. We stopped for tea ๐ต and some incredible chow mein (aka chow mein), finding a quiet booth to escape the bustle for an hour ๐.
It was a classic San Francisco dayโblue skies โ๏ธ, steep hills โฐ๏ธ, and plenty of culture packed into a few city blocks ๐ธ.
